VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteerism
is another cornerstone of our mission to support the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Rewarding and fun volunteer opportunities abound, appealing to a wide variety of interests and can accommodate the busiest of schedules. We invite all to consider volunteering in support of the LA Phil. COPW members typically contribute an average of 300 hours each year.

Volunteering at Educational Events

Toyota Symphonies for Youth—Eight concerts designed especially for children age 5-11 are held on Saturday mornings throughout the LA Phil season. A COPW favorite, volunteers are needed from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. to assist with pre-concert activities for the youngsters at Disney Hall. Volunteers are invited to attend the concert that follows free of charge.

Symphonies for Schools—Part of the LA Phil’s educational outreach program, these six concerts are provided free of charge to schoolchildren in grades 3 through 12, and are designed to introduce classical music to schoolchildren who would not otherwise have the opportunity. This is a great way to spend a weekday morning at Disney Hall, and Symphonies for Schools is one of the ways we give back to the community.

Volunteerism and Fundraising

Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts—Showcase House is the largest and one of the oldest annual house and garden tours in the United States and serves as a major Philharmonic fundraiser. COPW members volunteer for four-hour shifts as house and garden docents either in the morning or afternoon. For information on past showcase events click here.

Administration

Office Orchestra—Volunteers are needed year round to assist with a variety of office tasks including mailings, data entry, special projects and events. Volunteers work "on-call" at the Philharmonic offices at Walt Disney Concert Hall or the Hollywood Bowl. Our efforts provide valuable support to the LA Phil staff, and gives everyone an inside look at the orchestra. Volunteer hours may be accumulated and exchanged for benefits such as concert tickets. Work schedules are usually 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or on a mutually agreed upon basis. Our time helps the Phil staff to meet the needs of the orchestra—they love us! For more information click here.

COPW Committees and Volunteer Opportunities

COPW Board of Directors—Another way to get involved in COPW and meet other members of the Committee is election to the COPW Board of Directors. The Board consists of thirty members who serve a three-year term. They meet six times a year for lunch in the Board of Directors Room of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Board members may volunteer for any of the following standing committees or board positions:
